Ryobi Nation - Entryway Closet Nook

The gamble paid off. Before I moved in 4 months ago I knew I wanted to remove the entry closet and replace with a nook. Project started by ripping out old doors, shelving, and rods. Then walls needed mud and painting before construction of the nook. Initially bought 1/2\" MDF but opted for 3/4 plywood for the lower (shoe) shelves. For the board & batten I ripped the 3/4 plywood 2.5\" wide for the vertical strips and 1x4 boards for the horizontal. Upper shelf is 1x2 \"sandwiched\" between two 1/4\" plywood boards. Corbels were purchased but will attempt to do this next time with my new scrollsaw. There was plenty of sanding (and then more sanding) in between all the steps. And painting, I would recommend to paint BEFORE assembling. Added the Ryobi Corner Cat to my tool family. Also learned that walls are not straight/square top-to-bottom, left-to-right or front-to-back. Learned to appreciate caulk and wood filler. Also going forward I will ALWAYS paint/stain before final assembly.
